When I realized that the strength of the Allied Air Forces during the Second World War would never be repeated it made me attempt to record the histories of the vast number of stations that were in existence in the British Isles during that time.
Little did I know what a mammoth task I had undertaken when I started researching in 1970, a task that lasted for the following 25 years, and which is not entirely finished at the present time as new facts keep coming to light.
I could not have completed this project without the help of numerous like minded people to whom I will be forever in their debt, and I hereby acknowledge their contribution. I have tried to list them below but over such a length of time I fear I have forgotten some, so to them I offer my sincere apologies.

Appreciation's.
Since I first established this web site in Jan 2000 I have received several E Mails congratulating me on my work and the contribution I have made to recording this aspect of our proud aviation history. I appreciate such comments very much as they make the years of research all worth while.
The following are true copies of communications.
Dear Mr Jefferson,
I have toured your web site ...UK AIRFIELDS... it is so very informative, I can't thank you enough for the dedication and time that you have spent compiling all this wonderful information.. I have an avid interest in world war two aircraft. I was born in 1951.. 6 years after the war and as such, have the utmost respect for all who fought and gave their lives for democracy! And to those who survived... I salute you!! Once again.. thank you so much. Respect and regards.. Brian Savory
Dear Mr. Jefferson,
It was with great interest that I discovered your website on airfields in England. For sometime I have been trying to find information and maps locating the fighter and bomber bases in England . The reason for this is that I'm a professional artist specializing in aircraft painting. Trying to get the correct squadrons, the correct aircraft codes at the correct locations is a problem and having people like you to turn to is very helpful.
As a side note, I'm familiar with both England and her skies. I flew F-100's with the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing at RAF Wethersfield. England and her people have been most kind and generous to me and I look forward to visiting again.

Dear Mr Jefferson,
I stumbled upon your website while looking for information on RAF
stations used by Polish bomber squadrons during WW2. It was a direct hit
so to speak. I am deeply grateful for very interesting histories of
airfields such as Bramcote, Lindholme, Faldingworth etc. as well as
details of several Polish aircraft crashes in Yorkshire. The information
you've kindly provided has been of great value to me and you have made a
very important contribution to my research. I'm much obliged.
Best wishes from Cracow

Hello Guy,
Thanks for the potted history you sent me, I really appreciate the work you are doing to make this information available.
The most useful thing, I feel with the information you provide, is that you give enough specific details for anyone interested like myself, to continue the research into the area.
Again thank you for providing such useful, concise information pages.
Best regards, Zoe.
